Feb 18, 2025MINUTE ORDER issued by Courtroom Deputy for Chief District Judge Troy L. Nunley on 2/18/2025: The Court has reviewed Defendants' Notice of Request to Seal (ECF No. 145 .) Defendants request the Court seal their Motion for Leave to Amend and approximately 40 exhibits attached to the motion. The Court notes that Defendants have demonstrated a pattern of excessive and disorganized filings that have undermined the interests of judicial economy. Following that same pattern in the instant request, Defendants have failed to clearly explain why each of the 40 exhibits should be filed under seal. See Espineli v. Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A., Inc., No. 217CV00698KJMCKD, 2019 WL 4640683, at *2 (E.D. Cal. Sept. 24, 2019) ("Conclusory statements unsupported by any declaration or citation to authority are insufficient for the court to find good cause to seal the documents, especially given the 'strong presumption in favor of access' to the record."); see also Berlanga v. Polaris Indus., Inc., No. 21-00949, 2023 WL 2752483, at *2 (E.D. Cal. Mar. 31, 2023) ("It is not the job of this court to laboriously examine documents and connect the dots to provide specific reasons supporting requests to seal."). Accordingly, the Court preliminarily GRANTS Defendants' request to seal only as to Defendants' Motion for Leave to Amend. Defendants are ordered to file a redacted version of their Motion to Amend not later than 5:00 pm today. The Court defers ruling on the remainder of Defendants' motion until Plaintiff's deadline for filing a response to Defendants' request to seal. E.D. Cal. L.R. 141(c).
