Electronic Vapour Inhalers

Patent No. EP3248481 (titled "Electronic Vapour Inhalers") was filed by JT International S.A. on Nov 3, 2015. The application was issued on Apr 15, 2026.

Patent Summary

An electronic cigarette comprises a housing with a mouthpiece and an induction heating arrangement configured to inductively heat an induction heatable element of an inserted cartridge or capsule. This process heats a flavour-release medium—comprising tobacco or tobacco material impregnated with a vapour-forming medium—to produce an inhalable vapour. A control arrangement energises the induction heating arrangement and recognizes the inserted cartridge or capsule by detecting a characteristic of the induction heatable element. Specifically, the control arrangement detects changes in the electromagnetic field generated by the interaction between the induction heating arrangement and the induction heatable element during insertion. Based on this detected characteristic, the control arrangement automatically sets a heating profile to regulate the operation of the induction heating arrangement.
